Here are some of the favorite destinations in Belize of Jay Hersh, author of Mundo Maya: Revenge of the Jaguar King, many of which helped inspire the novel.



Cottontree Lodge - Belize's newest ecotourism resort near Punta Gorda in the Toledo District. It is owned and operated by friend's of the author. It is a great place to experience the many natural wonders of Belize (Note: Mr Hersh is an investor in this lodge)

Mopan River Resort - Located in Benque Viejo at the western most terminus of the Western Highway. A nice resort which features trips to many of the settings in the book such as Caracol, Tikal, Xunantunich, etc. The author has stayed here and enjoyed it.

Chaa Creek Resort - Also located off the Western Highway this is said to be a nice resort which features trips to many of the settings in the book such as Caracol, Tikal, Xunantunich, etc. The author has not stayed here.
